Brad Holmes is a professional American football executive who currently serves as the general manager of the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL). He was hired by the Lions in January 2021 after previously serving as the director of college scouting for the Los Angeles Rams. Holmes was born on November 24, 1979, in Tampa, Florida, and grew up in the Miami area. He played college football at North Carolina A&T State University, where he was a four-year starter at defensive tackle. After finishing college, Holmes began his career in scouting with the Rams in 2003 as a public relations intern before working his way up through the organization’s scouting department. During his time with the Rams, Holmes played a significant role in helping the team build a roster that made a Super Bowl appearance in 2019. He was responsible for overseeing the team’s college scouting efforts, which helped the Rams draft players such as quarterback Jared Goff and running back Todd Gurley.
